12 weeks

 Me at 12 weeks:
No real baby bump yet, but definitely no ab definition anymore, and the pooch is getting poochier.

Size of baby: 2 inches - About the size of a peach.

Sleep: I don't know if it's from pure exhaustion but I've been sleeping a lot better lately. I only get up about once to go pee now.

What I miss: I STILL miss Monster Energy Drinks, sushi, turkey sandwiches, Four Lokos, and just about everything else I can't have.

Cravings: Mexican food. the real kind, from back home.

Symptoms: I'm still pretty tired all the time, but it seems to be getting better. I'm getting weaker and weaker in the gym, which is pretty frustrating. The nausea is getting a lot better, and I've almost made it through my entire first trimester without puking!

Best Moment this week: Seeing my baby for the first time on the ultrasound- So amazing!
I'm also just really stoked to make it to this point in the pregnancy. It is considered the "safe zone." Many women wait until they're 12 weeks pregnant to tell anyone, which is what I originally wanted to do, because that's when the risk of losing the baby drastically decreases. After seeing the baby this week and knowing I made it to week 12, I finally feel like I can relax (about that particular worry, at least).

Nothing Too Interesting

I still can't get the image of my little baby out of my head. It has only existed for 9 weeks and 6 days (icydk they measure how far along you are starting two weeks before you're even pregnant) and it's already dancing around in my stomach. Pretty f-ing amazing.

Today I went shopping for five whole hours and couldn't find anything. Well, I bought a new bra, some comfy yoga pants and a yoga skirt. I feel like everything else looks so terrible on me. I have this little pooch that looks more like I've been drinking too much beer lately. I can't wait to get a real bump already!

D is away in Japan this week. It pretty much sucks. But he's bringing me back a can of Aquarius and some Japanese candies so it's totally worth it. Hah. I'll write more tomorrow, when I officially reach my 12 week mark. :)

First Pictures

I had my first ultrasound yesterday. It was so amazing. The baby was moving around so much, flailing his/her little arms and legs. The doctor measured the baby at 11 weeks and 2 days old. That means I have an official due date- 3/11/12. I'm already in love. :)

First OB Visit

I had my first OB visit at Tripler Army Hospital today. I got to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time! It was so amazing. It was beating at 163bpm. Words can't describe how elated I was when I heard those tiny thumps. Everything seems so much more real now. Other than that, I just had a physical and the doc went over my blood work. Great news- everything looked normal! I have my next appointment in four weeks and my first ultrasound in eight. So happy right now. :)

Back To My Roots

I am no longer a blonde.

My roots were getting out of control, and to minimize hair dying while pregnant I decided to go brunette. My hair has never actually been this dark in my life (my roots have always been darker than the rest of my hair), but I kind of like extreme, bold colors rather than colors in the middle. Anyway, I know this will fade (and fast, with how light it was before), so I guess I'll just have to play what to do next by ear. Most doctors say they think it's safe to color your hair while pregnant, but nobody knows for sure. I'm going to try to hold out as long as possible.

It's an interesting change and it makes my eyes look so much greener, but I'm not too crazy about it. D loves it, though. It's just that being a blond was so much... well, fun. I know I'll be a bimbo blonde again eventually.

family in town

My mum & little brother, Diego, got in on Saturday. Yesterday D & I took them up to North Shore.

We went to the Haleiwa farmer's market and stocked up on fruits & veggies:

And picked up this cute shirt for my belly monster at the Quiksilver store:
This can be unisex, right?

After a couple of hours of snorkeling at Shark's Cove and Lani's, we took the scenic route home.

It was a fun day! It's nice having family here.

8 weeks

Me at 8 weeks:
I'm starting to get a little pooch!
Size of baby: 1/2 inch - About the size of a raspberry.

Sleep: I wake up at least 3 times a night to pee (SO annoying) & I have crazy weird dreams every night, mostly about Texas.

What I miss: Monster Energy Drinks (I've never needed one more in my life, and I can't have one!), SUSHI, Turkey Sandwiches, Four Lokos, and just about everything else I can't have.

Cravings: spicy thai food, burgers, rare steak (even though I can't have that either)... NOT sweets...

Symptoms: EXTREME fatigue, slight but not debilitating nausea in the mornings and when I've gone too long without eating, bloating

Best Moment this week: Turning in my final paper for one class and taking my final examination in another. I was so stressed that I would be too tired or sick to do so when the time came. Hopefully this first trimester ickyness will be over when the Fall semester starts.

Baby's First Vans

So here they are- Baby C's first (of many) pair of Vans. They are size "1" which means they'll fit a 0-6 week old. That's right, they'll only fit for 6 weeks and we paid $22 for them! I've spent less on Vans for myself. Oh well, I've known I've wanted these for my future baby since I first saw them YEARS ago. Can't wait to slip them on tiny little feet.

They threw in a free pair of socks, which was nice because those suckers were expensive!
