I went to the grand opening of the brand new UFC BJ Penn Gym and ran into some bad news. Their kid's club doesn't take kids under 6 months. Soo... All this week I've been waking up at 5 to go for a quick 3-mile run at the UFC gym before D has to leave for work. Then I eat a quick breakfast, get Eva ready, and drive to the new gym at Pearl Harbor to lift weights. It's the only gym I've found here that takes babies as young as Eva, but it's $4/hour so I don't want to spend more than an hour at a time. It sucks because I was really looking forward to taking some classes and stuff at the UFC gym, but I probably won't be able to until after Eva turns 6 months. (Daniel goes in the afternoons to train so I can't go then either.)
Anyway... I secretly like being forced to do 2-a-days again. I have way more energy for both cardio and weights and I have more time to lift. This week in workouts was awesome. I didn't lose any weight from last week but I'm not too worried. I've noticed myself getting more toned and I was delighted when D mentioned it today. Also, I'm so freakin sore from this week and I love it!
On Fasted Cardio: So I'm kind of on the fence about fasted cardio in the mornings. That's what I've been doing this week, only because I don't feel like waking up even earlier than 5 to eat. Some experts believe you burn more of your fat stores by doing it because you don't have any carbohydrates on store. Others think it can burn off muscle and make your performance generally shitty. In the past I've gone back and forth on this, but right now I'm digging the fasted cardio. Maybe I just do better in the mornings in general, though. Here's a good article on fasted cardio.
