About Our Family

Don’t mind me, I’m just updating my “About Me” page. Rather, I’m adding a new “About Me” page so that I can keep the old one buried somewhere in my blog. Every now and then I’ll go back to it and remember who I was at some point in time. :)
My name is Erica. On the other side of the world, I’m a newbie lawyer who graduated law school and passed the bar with a baby in tow. Here in Tanzania, I’m a stay-at-home-mama to a pretty rad toddler named Evita Pilar. My husband and I love to travel, but we don’t just want to see the world- we want to live it. Saying goodbye to Hawaii was difficult, but it has definitely been worth the experience so far.

About Me

My name is Erica. I was born and raised in South Texas, on the border by the sea. I started surfing in junior high school, which forever changed my navigation in life. The ocean is my home, my playground, and my church, and I can’t imagine being without it. I have a deep passion for the natural world. Plants, animals, rocks… I want to know everything about them. This led me to pursue a degree in Physical Geography, which I earned from the University of Hawaii in 2008. Three years later, I earned a law degree from the same school. Now I’m a stay-at-home-mom to two wonderful babies: an almost 3-year-old named Evita and a 9-month-old named Damian. They are the perfect additions to our traveling family.

This blog began as a modern baby book, a way to keep family and friends updated on my pregnancy journey. It has expanded into a way to document life and hoard memories. To give advice and take advice. To say, “I was here.” Sometimes I have a lot to say. Other times I let pictures do the talking. These our adventure around the globe. These are my narratives to the sea.
